Fine thread veins
Fine, visible thread veins on the face or legs are a cosmetic concern for many clients. Light and laser methods can reduce their appearance. A clear line must be drawn to vein diseases, which are treated by doctors.
Technologies
Nd:YAG 1064 nm long pulse
The long wavelength is absorbed by haemoglobin and converted into heat. Fine thread veins can fade visibly. Contact cooling and an adjustable spot size of 2 to 10 mm support the application.
DPL / IPL
The narrow-band light between 530 and 750 nm improves the absorption ratio of haemoglobin to melanin. It is well suited to very fine, superficial thread veins on the face.

DPL / IPL · 530–750 nmTypical course in the studio
Depending on the extent, several sessions a few weeks apart are usually needed. The veins often fade step by step. Before starting, it should be clear that no vein disease is present, if in doubt through a medical check.
In Germany, treating vascular lesions with laser, IPL or radiofrequency is reserved for physicians under the NiSV. NiSV →
Questions from practice
Which veins belong in the studio?
Fine, superficial thread veins as a purely cosmetic concern. Varicose veins, swelling or leg complaints belong with a doctor.
Nd:YAG or DPL?
DPL suits very fine thread veins on the face. The 1064 nm laser also reaches slightly deeper veins, for example on the legs.
What does the NiSV require?
For cosmetic use of laser and IPL on people in Germany, a NiSV certificate of competence (Fachkundenachweis) is required.
